So for the last few years, MrModulork has held the KraftKlash contest. It is focused on Orks, and has a theme. One of the reasons I love it, it that entries don’t have to be painted to win. They can be digital, physical, or a mix of the two. I have really liked how it spurs the ork player community to push the envelope, and have entered every year. This year’s theme was “Deff From Above” and I had an awesome initial idea, of using his helicopter and Kommandoes to do a black ops themed entry.
Then I saw that another user had the exact same idea, and done it in an amazing way. So I needed another idea. And then, inspiration struck. Why not recreate the Hawkmen vs Mongo Attack on War Rocket Ajax scene from Flash Gordon?
Inspired to lvl 11, I began with the first big need, a rocket cycle. I looked at all the parts from the MrModulork library (I always try and keep my entries for his contest with a majority of parts from his catalog).
These parts from his Empire Strikes back inspired snow speeder looked perfect as a base.

I used the Blender masking tools to select and remove the parts I didn’t need.

What was left, once mirrored would be perfect.

Now we are cooking!

Time to build up the edges with some basic shapes, adding additional edges and faces.

Now that we have the basic shape, we can get creative.

Add on some armor plates to give it orky rivets.

And we end up with a good lower base for the “rokket” cycle.

Added in some other parts, and we are in business.

The Flash (or Krash) figure uses all MrModulork parts, combined from various kits.

Did some editing with masking tools to add a symbol on chest.

Then thought about it some more, and decided Orks would have a big old engine on the rokkit cycle and added this one.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of this (the winners were announced, but I am behind on posts).
