The Great Year Of Greenskins, Weekly Update-Week 39

I realized I never really talked about all these weapons that I have been kitbashing into the models. Before I move to the weapons, let me first talk about hands.

One of the first things I did when planning this project, was decide I would need a consistent style of hands. I looked at all the various models I wanted to use, and went with a combination of Avatars of War and MrModulork hands. Both of them share a style of hands with sharp nails on them, and also tend to have a less “stumpy” hand shape. William King described a goblin as having “strangler’s hands” in one of the Gotrek and Felix books, and that was what I wanted. The hands are larger in proportion to body than a humans, with long fingers. The Images below show a comparison of Aow, MrModulork vs Adamant Arsenal and Highland. I used the various open and fist hands, then did a lot fo chopping and splicing to combine with weapons.

I started with a lot of the free stl swords (with minor edits on some), then added a lot of the more detailed Avatars of War choices, and some additional Highland Miniatures and Titanforge weapons.

I also wanted to have other hand weapons, with a selection of more axelike choppas, club like weapons, and a lot of smaller cleavers and daggers. A gobbo is willing to use any sharp or blunt object they can get a hold of to kill their enemies. Pieces from a variety of stls.

I also knew I would need spears and bows, so worked up a selection of those (but not as much variety as the hand weapons.

So that explaisn where the weapons came from, and I learned quite a bit doing edits and meshing with hands that will carry forward when I start work on my own original models.

Our Greenskin STL of the week is not a single link, but a link to a MMF search for Standalone weapons. Most of what comes up is excellent packs from Artisan’s Guild, which you can pick up very cheap ($3 average a pack) and use in your kitbashes.
